You can take TEF Canada in four Nigerian cities, and TCF Canada in two of them. IRCC treats the result exactly like one taken in Canada. What differs from city to city is how you book: Lagos sells seats online, Port Harcourt publishes a calendar with deadlines, and Abuja and Ibadan take registrations directly.

How does booking work in Lagos?
#Alliance Française de Lagos (Mike Adenuga Centre, 9 Osborne Road, Ikoyi) runs E-TEF Canada and E-TCF Canada on computer. For TCF, only the speaking test is face to face with an examiner. You book everything through its online portal.

How do you book in Abuja, Ibadan and Port Harcourt?
#The Institut Français du Nigéria (52 Libreville Crescent, Wuse 2) runs TEF Canada but doesn’t publish dates online. Its terms say registration is made at the reception desk and is final. Email [email protected] or call 0 810 060 0456 for the next date and fee, and bring a passport-size photo to register.
Its two terms pages give different date-change rules (35 euros up to a week before, or one postponement at least a month before with a ₦40,000 penalty otherwise), so confirm before you pay.
Alliance Française d’Ibadan lists TEF Canada among its exams but publishes no dates or fees. Ask by email at [email protected], or call or WhatsApp +234 703 204 31 78. It doesn’t list TCF Canada.
Alliance Française de Port Harcourt runs TEF Canada and TCF Canada from a provisional 2026 calendar. Register through its Paystack link or at reception before each date’s deadline: about 8 days before a TEF exam, but about 4 weeks before a TCF exam.
The published calendars end in late July 2026 (TEF 28 July, TCF 30 July). For later dates, contact reception at [email protected] or +234 706 253 4631.

The student rates need 180 hours of study at an Alliance Française (or, in Port Harcourt, an Institut Français) in Nigeria in the past 12 months, with an attestation of registration. IRCC needs all four skills, so book the full test. Fees are not refundable.
How fast do sessions fill in Nigeria?
#We don’t publish a typical fill time for Nigeria. Lagos is the only centre selling online, so its sessions get the most attention. Port Harcourt’s deadline is the latest you can register, not a promise of a seat: a date can fill before it. In Abuja and Ibadan, you only learn about a date by asking, so contact them early and more than once.

#On exam day, bring the same passport you registered with. Abuja says to arrive 15 minutes early, and nobody is let in once the exam has started. The full list is in documents for exam day.
Should you travel to another city for a seat?
#Often, yes. If Lagos has nothing on sale, ask Ibadan, which is the closest centre to Lagos by road. Candidates in the South-South and South-East can try Port Harcourt, and the North and FCT can try Abuja. Book the seat first, then your transport and stay, and plan to arrive the day before.
