TEF Canada and TCF Canada in Pakistan: Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad

No public calendars: in Pakistan you ask for your own date

By the French Exam Alert teamUpdated 7 min readHow we fact-check

Short answer

Pakistan has three Alliance Française centres for the French tests IRCC accepts: Karachi and Lahore run both TEF Canada and TCF Canada, and Islamabad runs e-TEF Canada only. None publishes a full calendar; you contact the centre with the date you want, giving at least 5 days’ notice for TCF in Karachi, a week for a custom e-TEF date in Karachi, and 2 weeks in Islamabad. Karachi charges PKR 75,000 for either exam; Lahore and Islamabad quote fees on request.

Key takeaways

  • Karachi and Lahore run TEF Canada and TCF Canada; Islamabad runs e-TEF Canada only.
  • You request a date: Karachi needs 5 days’ notice (TCF) or a week (custom e-TEF), Islamabad 2 weeks.
  • AF Karachi charges PKR 75,000 for e-TEF Canada or TCF Canada (2026).
  • Lahore and Islamabad don’t publish fees, so ask before you pay.
  • Register with your passport, so your result matches your PR documents.

You can take TEF Canada or TCF Canada in three Pakistani cities: Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad, each at its Alliance Française. The result counts exactly the same for IRCC as one taken in Canada. What differs is the booking: none of the three posts a full public calendar, so you contact the centre and ask for a date.

That makes Pakistan unusual. In Delhi or Dubai the problem is beating hundreds of people to a seat. In Pakistan the problem is knowing who to contact, how much notice to give and what it costs. This guide covers each centre, as checked on the centres’ own pages in October 2026.

How does booking work in Karachi?

Alliance Française de Karachi in Clifton is the best-documented centre in Pakistan. Both exams are on computer at the Clifton campus, and both cost PKR 75,000 for the full four-part test in 2026. The two exams book differently:

  1. 1TCF Canada: email the front deskSend your full name, the exam (TCF Canada) and your preferred date to [email protected] at least 5 days ahead. The centre’s own example: contact them on the 10th and you can book a date after the 16th.
  2. 2e-TEF Canada: pick a calendar date or ask for oneCheck the CCI Paris registration calendar linked from AF Karachi’s TEF page. If no date suits you, ask for a custom date at least one week ahead.
  3. 3Fill in the form and payThe front desk sends a registration form (an Excel file for TCF) and payment details. Your place is reserved only once the form, your ID copy and payment are in.
  4. 4Wait for the confirmationA few days before the exam you get a document with the venue, time and instructions.

AF Karachi also sells single e-TEF modules at PKR 25,000 each, but IRCC needs all four skills, so book the full e-TEF Canada package unless you know exactly why you need one module.

How does booking work in Lahore?

#

Alliance Française de Lahore (155 Scotch Corner, Upper Mall) lists both TEF and TCF Canada, but it doesn’t post dates, deadlines or fees online; it says they change by session. Call or WhatsApp the exam team on +92 301 8237201, Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM, and ask for the next TEF Canada and TCF Canada sessions, the registration deadline, the fee and the documents they want. You don’t need to be an AF Lahore student to sit the exam.

How does booking work in Islamabad?

#

Alliance Française d’Islamabad (F-7/4) runs only the computer-based e-TEF; the paper TEF is suspended until further notice, and TCF isn’t offered on its exam pages. You choose your own date and email [email protected] at least 2 weeks before it. The fee isn’t published, so ask for it in that first email. Type the address by hand: the link on the centre’s site has an extra “.org”.

CNIC or passport: which ID do you need?

#

AF Karachi accepts a copy of your CNIC or passport when you register for e-TEF. Lahore and Islamabad tell you their requirements when you contact them. Our advice: use your passport. Your result is part of a PR application built around your passport, so the name on your attestation should match it exactly, spelling and order included. Bring the same ID on exam day, along with the usual exam-day documents.

Do seats sell out in Pakistan?

#

Not in the way they do in Dubai or Delhi, where a date can fill in minutes. Pakistani centres book on request, so the real limits are notice periods and room capacity: e-TEF and computer TCF are taken on a fixed number of terminals, and Karachi says payment is what reserves yours. Dates are “subject to availability”, so popular weekdays near IRCC deadlines may already be taken. Ask early and give the centre more than one date.

Working back from your deadline (Karachi TCF example)

  1. 6–8 weeks before your deadlineEmail the centreAsk for two or three dates. This leaves room for results to arrive.
  2. Same weekForm and paymentReturn the registration form with your ID copy and pay. Nothing is held until you do.
  3. A few days beforeConfirmationYou get the venue, time and instructions.
  4. Exam daySit all four partsOn computer, at the venue in your confirmation.
  5. 1–2 weeks after (e-TEF)Results by emailFor e-TEF, CCI Paris emails your official result; no paper certificate is issued. TCF results come after France Éducation international processes them.

How long do results take in Pakistan?

#

AF Karachi says e-TEF results arrive by email from CCI Paris within one to two weeks, and AF Islamabad says to allow 2 weeks. TCF Canada results come after France Éducation international processes the session, usually two to four weeks. Results are valid for 2 years from the test date. More detail: results time and IRCC.

Which centre should you pick if you live elsewhere?

#
Where are you based?

Islamabad is closest, but it runs e-TEF only. If you want TCF Canada, Lahore is the nearest option, roughly 4–5 hours by the M-2 motorway.

Travelling for the examBook your trip only after the centre confirms your date in writing, and arrive the day before. Payment is non-refundable at most centres, so a missed flight can cost you the exam fee too (reschedule and refund rules).
